Subject:ACID 5.0: Time & pitch problems when recording a new track

Hello,

I have seen in the forums that there is a definite sync issue when recording a new track -- the timing of the new track, once recorded and loaded into Acid, will be delayed by a fraction of a second. Granted, you can fix this by zooming in and sliding the track over, but why should you have to?? I am using an Edirol UA-1A USB connection to record and in Acid 4.0 I had no sync problems.

Today I discovered a new problem: when recording on the same device, after a few takes the pitch of the new track is 1/2 step lower than what I performed. Again, I could fix this with the pitch shift, but why should I have to?

Can anyone explain why either of these is happening?

C'mon Sony, I love your products, but I've pumped a lot of money into getting them updated and I expected improvements, not problems. When will a fix be in place?

the pitch shift is most likely happening because you have the track beatmapped--as for the latency, I have the same problem in AP5, but never before in earlier versions. It seems like the latency problem is affecting a lot of people so it should (even though it prob won't be) adressed in a patch (if it ever comes out). Hope this helps!

Ziggy, thanks for your reply. I tried disabling the media manager and sql server (see this link, if you haven't already: ://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=331674&Replies=4&Page=0)
and that helped a lot with playback, much less just starting the program up faster.

However, the latency issue is still there -- I still have to move the track over a bit to the left to get the sync just right. I have been trying multiple takes with a short guitar riff (the guitar is in my lap as I type this) and so far have not been able to reproduce the 1/2 step pitch drop. The track I have just recorded is beatmapped by default. The pitch drop occured after multiple takes.

Perhaps Sony can tell us if this a random/occasional occurence or a bug related to the media manager/sql server?
