Subject:syncing Acid with Logic without Rewire?

As I can't make Acid work with Logic in Rewire mode, I'd like to know if at leat I could sync them without using Rewire. I've tried a time ago, but I've not succeeded, so I want to know if it's possible. I want to put Logic in cycle mode, in a few bar cycle (loop on 4 or 8 bars), and have Acid to follow the sync. I would put the right tempo, and maybe loop start/end in acid, I just want that Acid starts playing the exact same time Logic starts playing. I have both a spare midi IN and an OUT spare port. So could it be used either by using MIDI timecode, MTC, or even a single note in Logic in the first beat of the first measure that woulb be fed to Acid and tell him to start playing? |

Ok, it seems nobody can help as soon as it concerned Logic because it can't be tested right now. So, let's say I ask the same question but with Acid 5 and Cubase SX 3. Can I sync them on a few bar loops without using rewire? (If it's possible with SX, I think I know enough Logic to do this with it.) |

You can use MIDI Timecode (MTC) or MIDI Clock but ACID must be the master for MIDI clock. Actually, ACID works better as the master for MTC too but it does have the ability to sync as a slave to MTC. These are your only other options if ReWire doesn’t work. ~jr |

without rewire it's pointless to try and get them to sync up. theres no reason for acid to be the master. yr better off rendering your loops into individual tracks and importing them into logic. or get a mac and logic 7. you wont need acid. a firend of mine is telling me about this piece of software kinda like rewire but it uses tcp/ip and gigabit ethernet for routing your audio to different machines. though not a solution to your problem it definitely is interesting. i'd like them for one day to actually get acid to the point where it would work nicely within a DAW set-up (to the extent for which i'd use it) and AP5 is a step in the right direction. perhaps when AP6 comes out next year (cus it will...software companies need to go up a number in version everyyear apparently) the rewire should be fully functional and all the bugs should be out of it. acid slaving to rewire is the smartest thing they've ever done, even though it's a bit hit-or-miss right now. |

Forget it. Rewire is the only proper way to get that working. I tried it for years with very very limited success and gave up in the end. I'm really glad they implemented Rewire finally. It's a dream come true for me. (I work with Cubase SX) |
