Subject:What's the best way to preview new loops?

When you get a bunch of new loops, from Acid Planet or elsewhere, how do you go about listening to each one.

Is there a simple efficient way to this?

If you want to listen to your loops as they were composed, Sound Forge 7 lets you listen to them that way (via the Explorer window). (This is the way that I do it.)

If you're using just ACID, it should tell you (also via the Explorer window) what key (if present) and tempo the loop was composed in. (The Media Manager in ACID Pro 5 will also give you everything you wanted to know about a loop in the Search Results window.)

You can then set your overall project key to this key and tempo.

You can also right-click in the Explorer window and choose, "Explore Current Folder." (If using the Media Manager, it's, "Explore Containing Folder.") If you have your loops associated with something like Windows Media Player, you can use it to give a quick listen to a sample. (This will also give a "hear it as it was composed" situation like Sound Forge does.)

Drag the whole lot right on top of an open WinAmp window or the Winamp icon on the desktop. Instant preview in the order the files were dropped in. Doesn't get any easier.

The two ways suggested above are how you can listen to the raw loop unprocessed by ACID. I have never done this. I just use the ACID Explorer window to navigate to the directory the new loops are in, then I select the first loop and SHIFT select the last loop and ACID plays each one in succession so you can hear them all.

If you go to Options > Preferences > Other you will see options to modify this behavior and adjust how many times to play each loop whenin multi-select mode. (the default is 1 time)
