Hello, when I used cakewalk, there were all sorts of instruments available. Now I use Acid Pro 4.0. Any sound that I play on my synthesizer sounds like a #$%& piano. How do I fix this? Does this have something to do with VSTi? |

How about a bit more info - when you say "any sound I play on my synthesizer", do you mean an external keyboard? Or one of the softsynths in Acid? Which softsynth are you using? The default is the DLS softsynth, which has piano for its default sound. Have you opened the MIDI editor to change the patch away from 0000 Piano? - like to help, but .... |

Ahhh… another victim of my protocol is better than your protocol. (sorry, I hate the fact that Microsoft had to make up their own instrument protocol when we already had a standard that everyone was using) but I digress... Cakewalk supports DXi soft synths and ACID supports VSTi soft synths. So the soft synths you saw in Cakewalk cannot be used in ACID unless they also shipped with a VSTi version and you installed the VSTi version. You may be able to go back, re-install some of them, select the VSTi version, and have them visible in ACID. Did you install the Native Instruments Express Keyboards that come with ACID Pro 5.0?. They will give you VSTi’s for a lite version of a Hammond B3, Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, and Yamaha DX7 synthesizer. These should sound pretty darn awesome. ~jr |
