I would not swap out the M-Audio ASIO drivers unless you are having a problem with them. I have a business laptop that didn’t have ASIO drivers and ASIO4ALL worked great on it. ~jr

When Asio is used, the playback starts with a slight delay and an audio click is heard before the song. Is that normal ? I'm not using Asio on my DAW computer. I've got Edirol UA-5 USB device and everything works fine with the standard Windows XP audio driver. What could be the advantages of using Asio with Acid ? I'm somewhat confused with audio drivers...

I use a Midiman 2x2 USB on my laptop, and it was impossible to record MIDI because I would press a note and hear the note 50ms later. With the ASIO4ALL driver the delay is down to 11ms. It is possible that the clicking is caused by the buffers being set too small. Increasing them usually corrects this. ~jr

Then you don’t need ASIO drivers. If it was working fine, don’t fix it!
