Hi,

I current audio card is the Emu 1820m - the big big brother of the 0404 (or maybe the father?). Once you have them set up ok things are fairly painless, but the PatchMix DSP control panel can be as confusing as it is powerful.

As a general note to anyone using this family of cards is to check out the un-official forum HERE which provides info and help with problems.

T2000, back to your issue. It can be easiest to start from scratch with the patchmix DSP software, so here goes.

*If you want, save the existing Patchmix setup, as you know it works to an extent with ACID.
* Make sure none of your audio apps are open. Delete all of the channel strips in Patchmix. You will get a warning something like 'do you really want to delete all ASIO ins/outs - it can confuse your applications" - click ok and delete the strips.

* Create a new strip (click the start in the top left hand corner of Patchmix). Choose "Host Source" as the type. Choose "ASIO Out 1/2". This will be your ACID ASIO playback channels.

* Create another strip. Choose "Physical Source" and choose the input that you are feeding your bass into. On this new input strip, right click on one of the blank Insert blocks and choose "Insert Send (Output to ASIO/Wave or Physical out". In the next box that pops up choose "Host 1/2". You have just created the ASIO input for ACID.

* You should probably create at least one more strip, choosing "Host Source>Windows Source (Direct sound etc)" which will handle audio from things like media player, soundforge and systems sounds (if you still have these switched on....).

*I also like to put meters on all of my Patchmix channels to help keep track of where signals are.

Hope this helps! Once you get your head around Patchmix it makes a lot of sense, promise!

Mike

PS oh and when you are ready for it, with ACID 5 and the v1.6 Emu drivers you can access the Emu's DSP FX via the 'powerFX' VST plugin.

it still aint working for me even if i get asound into acid or any music prgramme then i dont get effects from the 040 mixer thingie. Incidentally im using a phonic mm1002 mixer before the card. speakers plugged in...then i have the line outs from the card feeding the mixer inputs and then the outs from the card also go to the mixer and then i plug into the mixer...its a dam minefiled..does anyone have a simple workaround for the ignorant of us...many thanx
