You must disable the Realtek AC97 chip on your motherboard. This is the part I can’t help you with because each motherboard is different. There is usually a key sequence you can use when the computer boots like holding the Del key or F1 that will put you into the BIOS editor. Then you need to figure out how to disable on-board sound so it doesn’t get in the way of the Soundblaster Live! card.

For this you need to go into the Creative Mixer applet and select your recording device. It defaults to “What U Hear”. You need to set it to Line-In or Mic-In or whatever input you want to record from.

Then in ACID, go to Options > Preferences > Audio and select the Creative drivers if there are any. I don’t think the Soundblaser Live! has ASIO drivers from Creative but its been quite a while since I used one of these cards.

In the ACID Record Dialog, select Lin-In or Mic-In as the Record device. Do not select Analog Mix L/Analog Mix R as this will mix your previous recording with your new recording and you don’t want that.

You are welcome. I realize you are trying hard to get this to work. Hang in there.

What are you trying to record (voice, guitar)? and what input on the Soundblaster are you plugging it into (line-in, mic-in)? If your inputs are too low, it sounds like you are plugging a instrument like a guitar into the line-in. If this is the case you’ll need to add a pre-amp before the line-in because the level coming out of the guitar pickups is too low level (i.e., it is not "line-level").

Well that clears up a lot. You want to play in another program and record it in ACID. This explains why you are getting everything bleeding onto the last recorded track.

You can’t accomplish what you want with a Soundblaster card. You would need the ability to assign audio to discreet outputs and to record from those outputs internally.

Can’t you render whatever it is you are trying to record to a wave file in the other program and just bring that into ACID? I don’t understand why you are recording program-to-program. Maybe there is another way to solve this if we knew more about what the other programs was and what you are trying to do.

What are you trying to accomplish by bringing your mix from DSS DJ into ACID?

I would think that you could record the track to a wave file with DSS DJ, then bring that wave file into ACID and do your pitch shifting. No need to record live.
