Hello folks. I am using ACID pro 4.0 and ready to expand. I currently use the MIDMAN 2x2 midisport to interface my Roland synthesizer, computer. I need something with more inputs because I also have a YAMAHA AW16G and would like to add a drum machine. Could anyone give me a suggestion on a possible new interface that I could buy and how I would use it to interface the drum machine, computer, keyboard and AW16G multitrack recorder? Thank you for helping out U.S. Army soldier. |

Can you tell us more about how you work. How do you use your keyboard with acid? Do you sequence with your keyboard and record that into acid? Why are you wanting a drum machine? Just some general questions to get you started. |

My first recommendation would be the MIDIMAN 4x4 or 8x8. It works the same as what you have with more ports. ~jr |

I need a drum machine so that I can create my own patterns. Do you know of an easier way? Yes, I play my a few bars on my keyboard and send it directly into acid for the purpose of looping. I just want to know how to interface the whole setup. Thanks for helping me out. |

> I am new so I hope that I don't sound stupid I don’t think any question is stupid. We have all been in "boot camp" at one point or another. It’s a rite of passage. ;-) ~jr |

You could just buy another usb midisport 2x2 and use them together. It seems like a cost effective way of adding midi ports. |

Hello Philip(?), In addition to what others have suggested, you can use ACID Pro itself like a drum sequencer using One-shots and the Paint Tool. (A One-shot is an ACIDized form of digital audio that's designed to play once in any given event as opposed to Loops, which can loop over and over in any given event.) Many Sony loop libraries have One-shots. Hold down CTRL on your keyboard while clicking and dragging across the timeline to a One-shot track with the Paint Tool active. Any event painted will "snap" to the nearest note value on the grid. Change the grid resolution so you can snap One-shots to other note values. (Right-click the Marker Bar (the area immediately above the timeline) to change the note value of the grid.) The only caveat is that you'd have to know some basic music theory to manifest the rhythm you have in your head real in ACID. (Unless you feel like stabbing at it.) A neat new feature in ACID Pro 5 is the ability to drop One-shots (and any other type of copied event) on the fly during playback. Are you deployed? You're welcome! :o) Should you come across some terrorists, give them my "regards" (hopefully in the form of a bullet), would you? (Hope and pray you and your buddies keep safe as well.)
