Hi,
I haven't tried ACID 5 yet, can anyone tell me, is real time monitoring of effects possible while recording?
I would like to use Guitar Rig or Nigel (monitoring the input) while recording, so the guitar signal is recorded dry.
Regards,
Rich

No, ACID 5 does not support software input monitoring.

Thanks for the quick reply. Too bad it won't work this way. I don't want to have to use another app like Cubase or Tracktion to do this with ACID.
It would really simplify the creative process if live monitoring would be possible.

Rich

With the right setup, you can record dry while monitoring wet. I do this all the time with my DigiTech GNX2 guitar effects processor. I'd personally rather let the hardware do it rather than software.

Got a PodXT, Guitar Rig, Nigel, Guitar Amp Pro. They all sound great.
I do prefer Guitar Rig, which is a serious recording tool for guitarist.

Rich

Kbruff,
I totally agree about Tracktion. It is WAY cool :) !!
It is the only program (so far) that works flawlessly with my (3) UAD-1 cards. No latency issues, no clicks or pops.
I can monitor in real time, with zero issues.
I can finally finish my tracks without going nuts trying to use my UAD-1 cards to their fullest.

Rich

The UAD-1 cards work great in ACID Pro 5, BTW :) I have been using my (2) UAD-1 cards with no latency issues, no clicks or pops and the project looping always stays sync accurate and tight, with full PDC, of course. You can close your eyes and can't tell where the loop points are, it is that seamless. I am using the native VST versions in ACID Pro 5 now, not the DX.
What I really like about ACID Pro 5, is that for most realtime editing tasks it remains totally gapfree on playback. Except for inserting my UAD-1 plugins into the effects chain (there is a slight gap), I can edit, rearrange, audtion, drag & drop, set new loop points, whatever, by virtue of ACID having separate Playback & Edit heads/now times. I do agree that Live Input Monitoring would be a great feature to have in ACID, especially for guitarists, like me. You can use amp sims like the Nigel, Amplitube, Rock Legends & Guitar Rig, in Vegas 5 already (works great, BTW) For now, if I want to record a guitar track, in ACID, I use my 'ol venerable POD 2. I would prefer to record dry and monitor wet though, with Live Input Monitoring,......... maybe in ACID 6 Peter? :)

Hi Billybk,
It's the whole live input monitoring that I really need. I've got $1300 worth of UAD-1 power, that I need to use to it's fullest.
ACID would be awesome, if you could use live input recording.
I was so frustraited with Logic 7, which is not currently reliable (no full PDC, many bugs). I pulled my UAD-1s out of my Mac and tried using SawStudio and Vegas5 with the same frustraiting results.
I hope Sony gets the UAD-1/third party plug in situation down. I really love the Vegas environment.

Rich
