Using ACID Pro 4. I use MIDI loops to build up drum parts. This quickly builds
into a patchwork of separate MIDI files as I add parts. What I would like to be able to dois to render them all to a single MIDI file which is the same length as a verse / chorus and then the whole song, gaps and all. When the structure of the song is complete I can then go through the single MIDI file and make final adjustments to the whole file to create variations to make the whole MIDI part feel more natural.

Is there any way of soloing just my MIDI tracks and outputting the MIDI data
as is if it were going to a synth but capturing it in another application as
a single MIDI file. I can then reimport the whole single MIDI drum file.

Thanks Paulie

Yes, you can use a software MIDI router like MIDI Yoke and send the output of the tracks to the input of another MIDI recording package. I just tried it with SONAR and it worked fine. Set the ACID output to MIDI Yoke 1 and SONAR’s input to MIDI Yoke 1 and it’s just like plugging a MIDI cable between them. Set SONAR to record and ACID to play and you’re all set.

JohnnyRoy. Thanks for helping on this. I have installed Sony's own Virtual MIDI router. In fact you can route Router 1 from ACID and record it straight back into Acid via the same Router 1. Job done.

I'm making a big effort to reducing the complications in my music making and I just found ACIDS MIDI too basic. This is really going to help a lot.

Paulie, I’m glad it worked for you. I kind of thought you could route it back into ACID or at least another instance of ACID but I couldn’t try it before I made the post and I hate to suggest things that I haven’t tried myself. Glad you got it to work.
