Saving my WAV files causes an SFK file to be saved at the same time.

I've unchecked the box marked "save meta data with file" in the "save as" dialogue box but it's still happening.

This is new after I "upgraded" to the new Sony version of SF7 build 301 via the audiostudio70.exe file. It's causing my WAV files to be poorly recognised in other media programs.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing but its still happening - can anybody please help me to stop this.

TIA. John.

.sfks are not metadata, they are peak files used to accelerate waveform drawing in Sony/SoFo applications. Being a separate file, they have absolutely no effect on whether .wav files are recognized in other applications.

Sound Forge will generate .sfk files any time you open a file that doesn't already have one, but you have the option to tell it to delete new ones on close. Options->Preferences->File->Delete temporary files on close. When that is checked, new .sfk files will be created in Sound Forge's temporary folder and deleted when they are no longer in use.

You are always free to delete existing .sfk files, and some users who like having them around while working in multiple Sony/SoFo applications do so regularly (though I'd recommend not deleteing them while the files are open in said applications).

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'll change the options as you suggest.

It must be coincidence that my other media program doesn't recognise WAV files produced by SF7 and the update that I performed.

A *.wav is a *.wav.. and should play on any app that supports Wave files....Perhaps your saving as a Scott Studios Wave (or other) by mistake... or a file association got changd..
