Here is my introduction to ACID5 demo:

Install program - O.K.
Fire up program, fix the path for VSTi folder, refresh
Load up my lastest ACD file.
Hit PLAY
Lock UP
CTL-ALT-DEL to close ACID (not responding)

I went through this twice, then checked ACID4. ACID4 has no problem.
On the third time, I thought I'd try another ACD file. But during the refresh scan for VSTis, I got the old familiar message: "acid50.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program."

I guess I'll wait a few more versions on this one.
BTW: When I uninstall, does it uninstall all that Microsoft SQL cr*p that got installed?

Thought I'd give it another try.
Started just fine. Refreshed my VSTi folder and set my Audio Device.
Closed the program.

Re-Opened the Program - er, or tried to. I got the message: "An error occurred starting ACID Pro. The system is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications."

I don't have any other applications open and there are no background tasks using any significant memory.

This PC has been an Audio Only PC, not connected to the internet, built myself. It has run very well for many years. I have used previous ACIDs and VEGAS programs extensively.

I can only say: ACID5 is not ready for primetime.

AMD Athlon 2400+
512M Ram
7200 Audio Only Drives
W2000 tweaked for Audio.
RME Multiface.

Do you have VSTfx installed in the same directory as VSTis? If so, moving the VSTfx to a separate folder may help... (this worked for me)

Good point. I have my VSTi’s and VST FX’s in separate folders because some VSTi’s report that they are FX when they are not. It really caused problems for some programs. You might want to try this.

Remember when we had to go thru VSTis one at a time, loading them into the VSTi folder one at a time to see which ones were causing the problems. Maybe we are going to have to do that with VST effects as well.

I found the reason for the song not playing was a UAD-1 effect inserted on the A-Bus. The song was still using my Direct-X versions of these effects, but I don't see why it shouldn't work. Works fine in version4.
Add it to the bug list.
