dear, SONY team ive only just begun using acid5 but so far im very proud to use this product. you have included most of my wishlist pros: acid5 seems more robust,so much smoother using asio and vsti's. I no longer feel like its going to crash if i give it more than it should handle. vst pluggins are extremely welcomed (i just ordered a t.c. powercore, my uad card thanks you). the reverse is cool, folder tracks are a blessing, you also got the mute right for tracks with aux sends. the groove thing is cool, but its something you have to expierment with. rewire slave will allow acid to intergrate into other programs who would have never used acid standalone. this could only increase the user base. cons: sort of my only problem with rewire slave is that ceartain songs wont play because of certain waves or uad pluggins.but i understand why. so with certain existing songs it may not work but for new songs its amazing. i wouldn't say its a con, its more of a change in wokflow. midi: i dont require much more in the sequencing department than what a5 already gives me, but the one thing that stops me from using acid for midi is THE PIANO ROLL EDITOR DOES NOT PLAY/SCROLL WITH THE REST OF YOUR PROJECT.(sorry for that). imho this and maybe midi pluggins is all that most people would need to be satisfied with midiin A5 but theres always acid6 or 5b hint, hint, hint. thank you sony for giving us a confident ACID5 |

ReWire does place an implied work flow on things. The point of ReWire is to provide audio "sources" that are then mixed into the host. The processing of these audio sources is really meant to be done in the host, hence the term "ReWire Mixer". The device is intended to provide features that the host doesn't do as well as the device, if at all. The limitations that ReWire place on ACID are such that it really wants ACID to strip its notion of being a "host" itself. ReWire is not a perfect technology. The limitations as to how it communicates with devices with regard to tempo data are known by the Propellerheads. The Propellerheads assure us that ReWire is not a static technology, and we are hopeful that some of the limitations of this technology will be addressed in future releases. (The technical issue is that ReWire does not communicate an absolute "time" of where it is asking the device to provide audio. If it did, we would not have the limitations that some plugins - those that introduce delay - place upon ACID ReWired.) Peter |
