Subject:Can't change "Open files as loop if...." properly

I tried Acid Pro 5 for a couple of hours today, and I'd like to state that I find it pretty impressing! Most of the new features are really useful to me, so I'm gonna purchase the update.

However, there's a thing or two I can't figure out. Here' some.

1. When I go to Preferences>Audio and want to change the values at "Open files as loops if between (seconds)", they seem to go crazy ;). I tried to change the first default value to 0,9 seconds (default is 0,5) both by entering the digits and clicking the arrows, but clicking OK changed the number to 9.0. When I returned to the dialog, the first value is set to 299,9. What's going on?

2. If I insert a Soft Synth, there's serveral columns opened, each with a fader, each named like the VSTi I inserted, however only the first can be selected from a midi track. I don't know what the others could be for?

Thanks for your help,
Zerobae

This is the new Multi-port VSTi support. It means that the instrument that you inserted has more than just two outputs. The reason only the first one can be selected is because its still just one multi-timbre instrument. You can assign this instrument to two (or more) tracks in ACID. Have one track set to a different MIDI channel. Then in your instrument, have it respond to the two MIDI channels on different outputs with different sounds (patches).

For example, Kontakt has eight (8) outputs (4 stereo pairs). You can load four different samples into Kontakt, have it listen to a different MIDI channel to trigger each sample, and have it route each sample to a different stereo output. This allows you to control the volumes in ACID via the extra Soft Synth buses. Previously, you would have to mix these sounds in Kontakt itself. It also allows you to add FX to each output separately. Kontakt has preferences that tell ACID how many outputs to create (2,4,6,8). Not all VSTi’s have this capability.

Yeah, that didn't look like a bug anyway ;-)

...but now I know how I can use it (probably should have checked the manual) - anyway, thanks JohnnyRoy.

Now maybe there's someone on the forum who can help me fix the loop detection.

Thanks,

Zerobae,
There is definitely a bug here (in the "Open files as loops if between" controls). It looks like the problem is isolated to cases where the period "." symbol is not the one used to denote decimal points.
If you hover your cursor in the tiny space between the up & down arrows of the spinner controls, so that the cursor changes from an arrow to two horizontal lines with up & down arrows, then you should be able to drag this 'thumb' up & down to change the values here.
Another workaround (but more of a hassle), would be for you to go to the windows control panel, "Regional and Language Options", and choose "English (United States)" from the format combobox. Then restart ACID, make the changes to the pref, and then reset the "Regional and Language Options" to its original setting.

I am entering this bug into our database, and it will hopefully be fixed soon. Thanks for letting us know!

You're welcome!
And thanks for the workaround...
