I don’t know why you’re experiencing lag. Are you using external MIDI gear or a really slow computer?

As for exporting as a WAV file, if you are using Soft Synths to play the MIDI file then you should be able to use File > Render As... and select WAV. If you are using your soundcard or external synths to playback MIDI then you need to record the output of that device into ACID. ACID won’t include the output of a soundcard or external device in a render by default. You need to record it to another track.

I can’t imagine why you’re getting the Save As dialog when you select Render As. If I add a MIDI track using the DLS soft synth, Render As prompts me for a format to render to. If I don’t route the track to a Soft Synth, Render As is grayed out.

It sounds like you are routing your MIDI track to an external device, specifically the GS softsynth that is part of every Windows box.

When you add your MIDI file, does a softsynth bus appear in the mixer view?

Is your MIDI track routed to the softsynth?

Do you have any MIDI ports enabled in ACID (Options | Preferences and then the MIDI tab)

Try this:

- Add a Softsynth the ACID.
- Load your MIDI file
- Route the MIDI file to the softsynth.

Play.

You should now be able to "render as" or render to file.

Burns, could you try using some "." periods in your sentences, or are those really meant to be one run-on sentence posts? I'm just having a hard time following what you are saying to grasp the situation.
