Is there a way to isolate an individual part of an audio sample? For instance, say I want to sample only the vocals of a song coded as an MP3, or just use the base line from a song. Is there a way to do that using Acid Pro? If not, is there any PC program that is able to do that? |

As mentioned here before, this is not really possible for vocals, but sometimes if there is not too much going on in the higher frequencies you can isolate a bassline using the low pass filter plug-in. Results vary and the more you try it the better you get. Good luck |

Maybe we should have a "sticky" thread on this topic. It's definetely the number one question here. |

You can do it using filters, but its going to sound like it was extracted with filters. you could try duplicating a track, filtering out what you want, and then inverting the phase with chorus., When the track is played back alongside the original track, most of the audio will cancel, sans what you filtered out of the inverted track. Its still going to sound filtered, but this way sounds more deliberate, and seems like less of a "quick fix" Adobe audition has an interesting spectral editing tool, although it might not do for you what you want it to, then again, maybe it will... You can read about it in November 04 EQ magazine, the article istitled, "Frequency space editing, by Craig Anderton. |
