Subject:Just downloaded the Acid Pro 5 demo...

That gives me 31 days to try out this new version.

MIDI editing is much better - it still creates a midi file, but doesn't pester you when you first start. Can't see a ton of improvements in midi, but VSTi is there. What I couldn't see was how to route the audio output of a VSTi to another bus track - each VSTi seems to have its own bus?

Also, I kept getting stuck notes with SUPERWAVE 8, a free VSTi - this doesn't happen with Live or FL Studio.

I like the new chord snapping functions in the midi editor - but is there an Arpeggiator? No drum sequencer? Two useful features in FL Studio.

Actually, this was already there in ACID Pro 4.0. It’s Options > Preferences [] Autoname new MIDI tracks. They just elected to turn it on by default in ACID Pro 5.0.

It’s the same procedure for all buses. Just add a bus, click on the bus assignment icon on the Soft Synth bus and assign it to the new bus you just added.

I installed the demo on my home machine. Things didn't go so well - MSDE hung on installing. I removed it, this causes Acid to complain on startup, then carry on.

Editing with the MIDI editor is nice with the chord snapping but preview has a few issues. I can hear crackling on one shot play at the end - looping works fine.

That I didn't know

I worked that one out later - not too obvious but it works
