Microsoft Data Access Components error -ACID Product Family

Subject:Microsoft Data Access Components error Posted by: zcus Date:11/8/2004 3:19:09 AM I got an error when installing the Media managment componet of Acid 5(Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8 setup failed). It said this service failed to start. I have a lot of Administrative services disabled and would like to know which service this install depends on so I only have to enable that service? As well under Windows "Add/Remove" windows components; I have installed only these: "Accessories and Utilites", "Internet Explorer", "Windows Media Player". Do I need to install the networking services and/or "Management and Monitoring Tools" I try to have as many services NOT running as possible. Thanks

If you look in the properties there is a dependency tab that shows what it is dependent on and what is dependant on it. ~jr

If you look in your services, you should see one called:

MSSQL$SONY_MEDIAMGR

Just make sure you’ve satisfied all its dependencies. If you look in the properties there is a dependency tab that shows what it is dependent on and what is dependant on it.

If you block this process from accessing the internet with your firewall you'll get this error too.
