Acid Pro 5 upg: why oh why Sony? -ACID Product Family

Subject:Acid Pro 5 upg: why oh why Sony? Posted by: MRe Date:11/8/2004 1:09:43 AM It's great to have a downloadable upgrade for AcidPro 5 BUT why those extra loops are available only as CD's. Not every AP user is living in the US of A. Sony uses UPS (or equivalent) to ship those CD's which would add another $35-$40 to purchase price. So eventually I either upgrade with almost $200 instead of $150 or do not get those loops... Why rest of the companies of the world can live with cheaper shipping or pure download access for loops??? Could Sony comment on this? Edit: Ok, checked the shipping (finally located my AP4 license code), it is only $20, that's not as bad as I thought. Nevertheless, it is more or less question of a principle...

So it would be nice if the loops were available for downloading as well, should work for those of us on broadband at least.

So, all you save is shipping of CD's which is a.m. $20. On the other hand, when shipping those _free_ CD's if Sony states their value to be $149 (as it is the value of upgrade) you'll probably end up paying VAT + Tax twice since I do not believe that Sony will provide us with EU VAT calculation in some obscure form which is needed to certify that you've already paid for the VAT.

Even if every one of Acid Pro users decides to download the material even at the same instant of time, it wouldn't show on their normal bandwidth. Microsoft is doing this all the time. How much is e.g. XP SP2?? Probably in range of 50-100 MB. How many XP users? Millions. And they definitely do not pay their internet access based on used bandwidth. Trust me.
