I am by no means an expert when it comes to all of the nuances of rewire, but for me, it is the ability to take two disparate, but professional level audio apps and combine the best of each for the benefit of the end user. Now I can take two of my favorite audio apps (SONAR & ACID) and use the best qualities of each. Just as an example, I can preview loops, change directories, drag and drop loops, roll out loops, use ACID's Chopper, do extensive audio editing , from ACID's timeline, basically anything, while being rewired and controlling SONAR's transport, from inside ACID and never get a gap, in playback. Like using a super smooth softsynth, in SONAR, but with audio host capabilities. ACID's elegant interface and ease of use, for previewing, arranging & editing loops, totally gap free, during playback is one of it's endearing strengths. I try to do these same kinds, of tasks, in SONAR and the playback is not so fluid nor the arranging/editing as easy and not always gap free. Since ACID Pro does not do live input monitoring, partial clip muting, multi-tracking, does not have superior MIDI editing/recording and so on, rewire allows me to combine the best attributes, from each app, for a more powerful end user experience. Rewire is not for everyone, but it gives us another option to explore. To be able to now use ACID, like a softsynth instrument, inside your favorite rewire compatible host audio app, is a killer feature that has taken ACID's usefulness to another level, IMO. It is working great, btw, in SONAR 4's synth rack, as a rewire slave. |

> To be able to now use ACID, like a softsynth instrument, inside your favorite rewire compatible host audio app, is a killer feature that has taken ACID's usefulness to another level, IMO ...and this really answers the question nicely. ReWire allows ACID to show up in SONAR as just another DXi SoftSynth (although technically it’s a ReWire SoftSynth). So think of adding your ACID composition as just another track in SONAR and when you want to edit that track, ACID is the editor. It is seamless integration. For anyone who uses SONAR or another DAW, this truly is the best of both worlds. ~jr |

Pipe I've been asking to rewire acid to vegas for the LONGEST TIME!!! Hopwfully in ver 6 vegas will either become a midi sequencer or a rewire host. Keeping my fingers crossed as usual. Ed. |

Any beta testers try ACID PRO 5.0 rewire with Cubase SX 2.0? Success, glitches, anything? |

"Sounds like a great boon for everyone except those who would like to stick with SF apps" Now that is an ironic Pita huh? Use Acid with every other DAW available, except Sony's. It's almost like we're being punished for trying to exclusively use the Sony suite of apps. I'm sure Vegas will catch up, it always does and seems to do it better than everyone else. Us Vegas users must be some of the most patient people on the planet. |
