Subject:Unable to load direct X plugin presets (ACID 4)

Hey guys, was wondering if you could maybe help me with a little problem I'm having.

I recently got a new hard drive, and naturally one of the first things I did was copy all of my samples and ACID files across from the old one. Unfortunately, however, although the .acd files load fine, every single effect I've used (I think every single one, it might not be the case for some of the third-party ones) has been reset to the default settings!

The exect error message is this:

An error occured while loading a DirectX Plugin or plugins. The plugin preset(s) could not be loaded.

Any ideas? I think I'll kill myself if I have to set all the effects and EQ again for every track I've got!

Is the new drive a media drive as a supplement to your system drive?

Always use the Preset Manager to backup the presets to your plug-ins.

If the new drive is the drive you are installing ACID (and the plug-ins) to, then it sounds like you may be having the same problem I tried to explain in this post.

i'd like to add that i've had the same thing happening. i also switched my main hd to a new one.

however, i did use the Preset Manager to export my settings beforehand, but for unknown reasons i could not import the preset file after reinstalling XP and ACID. when i try to import it i get the following message:

"The file H:\Audio\Sonic Foundry\Sonic Foundry Preset Manager\presets_26-09-2004.sfpreset is not in a supported format, or contains an unrecoverable error."

so, i now have to recreate all EQ settings that i did using the Default Track EQ for about 89 projects, containing a minimum of 25 tracks and at least 1 bus each.

and here's the weird part. I never saved the Track EQ settings for each track as a preset, since they are saved with the project. so how could the Preset Manager be of any influence?

at any rate, this is a perfect situation to determine once and for all which projects are worth finishing, and which i should just backup and forget. ;)
