I know this is probably only interesting to keyboard players from the 70’s like me, but ARTURIA has announced that in December 2004 they will be releasing the ARP2600 V. If you’ve heard their Moog Modular V (one of my favorite VSTi’s) then you know how their True Analog Emulation (TAE®) is nothing short of amazing. I still own my Minimoog (I just couldn’t bring myself to sell it) and I can tell you that they have nailed the Moog sound. I can’t wait to get my hands on the ARP2600 V. I owned one of the original white ARP Odysseys and I always wanted a 2600. I can’t wait! ~jr |

I must admit I never got what Storm was all about. Is it just a sequencing machine? Can I select sounds and then play them using my keyboard (a la Halion)? Or is it that I select a certain sound, create a looping sequence, record what's playing and import that into Acid? I have Storm "SE" that came with a motherboard at work. Installed it, played with it, uninstalled it. Did I miss a "hidden treasure" in there somewhere? Mario |

> Installed it, played with it, uninstalled it. Dito here. I downloaded the Storm demo, played with it for about 30 minutes. Didn’t get it. Uninstalled it. It looked like a closed system and I have no use for that. (I mean give me a break, it has 5 different drum machines! How many drum machines do you need? None if you’re me, I don’t use them) I haven’t a clue what they were thinking but it looks like a Propellerhead Reason wannabe. (I didn’t care for Reason either) ~jr |

> having said that i've gone right off softsynths. i like to grip a chunky knob. I’ve got 8 knobs and 8 faders on my M-Audio Radium 49 MIDI keyboard controller and have them programmed to manipulate ADSR’s and Filters. It’s really the best of both worlds. With soft synths like the Moog Modular V, CS-80V, M-Tron, etc. who can afford the hardware? ~jr |
