Thanks to all of those that helped out this struggling Army vet with the MIDI situation. Now, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can interface ACID with my Yama AW16G workstation, I would be most grateful. This forum is awesome. Thanks...HOOOAH!!!!

How do you envision ACID and your Yamaha AW16G working together? Do you want your final recording to wind up on your PC hard drive or the Yamaha AW16G hard drive? The Yamaha web site says that you can use MIDI to sync it to PC applications. I assume you could generate MIDI Timecode from ACID and have the Yamaha AW16G sync to it.

JR,
once again, thanks for the help. Your advising me to download the drivers for the midsport worked. I envision the Yamaha being the final stop for the recording. I would just like to make the two talk to each other.

In the Yamama AW16G Owner's Manual on page 163 starts the chapter on Using the AW16G with a “workstation synth”. This will tell you how to set the AW16G up to generate MIDI Timecode (MTC).

Step 2 says:
In the Work Navigate section, use the [UTILITY] key to access the MIDI page of the UTILITY screen. Turn on the SLAVE button in the MMC MODE field, and turn on the MASTER button in the MTC MODE field. The AW16G will

You can set ACID to slave to MTC using:

1. Select the menu item Options > Preferences
2. Click the Sync tab
3. Set the Trigger from MIDI Timecode to your MIDI input device.
4. Set the Frame rate: to match the frame rate of the AW16G

You may have some difficulty with this however, ACID likes to be the Master when using MTC not the slave. So if this doesn’t work, just set ACID to Generate MTC and set the AW16G MTC MODE to SLAVE.

If MTC doesn’t work you can also use MIDI Clock but MIDI Clock doesn’t generate tempo changes so if your song changes tempo this won’t work.

I’m just going by what the manual is saying so you may have to play around with it some but this should give you a jump start on what to do.
