Hi there. Thanx for your help. I have Acid 3. I`ve been using it on my pc and everything is great, BUT now I want to, somehow, synchronize it to my Mac, which runs Digital Performer 4. What I want to do is sequence all my midi tracks in DP4, do my loop work on Acid AND synchronize both programs (tempo, stop, play, play from meausre x. etc). This way I can hear them together. I don`t even know if this is possible. I hope I can use it the same way I use it with GigaStudio. In that case I do my sequencing on DP4 and use GigaStudio as a sound module. How can I do this with Acid?
What I have is:
-Digital Performer 4 on the MAC
-MOTU MIDI time piece USB
-Tascam PCI 822 sound card (on the PC) This card has 2 MIDI ports and a TDIF port. This TDIF is connected to the Tascam DM24 mixer, and the MIDI ports are connected to the Motu usb.
This way I can "see" the GigaStudio midi tracks on the Mac. Would a scheme similar to this will allow me transport control functions, as well as synchronization between Acid loops and DP4??
Please help me here because my work around really sucks (I record Acid´s output as an audio track in DP, but I have to synchronize it manually, and if I want to change anything on Acid I have to rerecord it again and I can´t hear how the DP sequence and the Acid loops sound together until I put everything on DP).

If you're using ACID Pro, you could try MIDI sync'ing ACID and Digital Performer together. See KB article for more info.

Thanx for your suggestion. The article read that it is "strongly suggested" that Acid is the Master. But I`d rather have DP as the Master, since I am writing music against video, and I set DP usually with tons of markers and tempo changes and I do all the sequencing there, etc. Would I be able to send MIDI time code to Acid through a MIDI port, so it would slave to DP4?

ACID can be triggered via MTC. Give it a shot, but remember Sony's caveat.

There really is no good solution for this when external tempo is involved. ACID needs to be the master and not the slave when it comes to tempo information.

There is no way for ACID to slave to DP's tempo as ACID does not listen/slave to MIDI Clock.

MIDI Time Code could be used, but MIDI Time code does not contain tempo information, so you would have to manually copy DP's tempo map to ACID, and the relative accuracy of this will be suspect at best.

Thank you guys for your suggestions. I´ll try them and let you know what happened. Can any of you think of another option? How about rewiring Acid to, for instance, Cubase SL, and then slave Cubase to DP by some kind of means.

i hate to say this but i've been in this situation before...

you have to make a choice: the mac or the PC

one has to go...

you could easily do your midi work in acid 4 or get soundtrack or ableton rewired on your mac.

i've personally used logic versions 3-5 and DP3 on the mac platform. i think the traditional midi sequencer is so bloated and clunky to get around in.

i decided it was cheaper and easier to use to just stick with acid, reason, and some vsti on my PC.

i'm not doing movie scores or huge orchestration just some simple basslines, chords, and leads. it's much less of a headache to just bang out the parts in acid, render them to audio tracks, move them around, and automate effects.

it really depends on which of the CPUs you own is more powerful.

BUT...

if you really need to use both computers and you just HAVE to use a traditional midi sequencer then get the newest version of cubase running on both platforms. i'm pretty sure it now supports acid loops and using VST system link you can sync both the audio and midi between computers cross-platform.

i think this is probably overkill though.

How about using rewire? If I make Acid Pro talk to Cubase via rewire (on the PC), could I then slave Cubase to Digital Performer 4 by some kind of means?
