in acid 4.0 pro - whenever i record in audio it always goes to the default tempo of 120 BPM - even if this is not the original tempo of what i recorded in -- how do I set so the tempo will always default to going to whatever the original tempo is of what I am recording in?

Try either setting the ACID project's tempo before recording, or uncheck the "make new track follow project tempo" setting in the Record window. (This will turn your recording into a One-shot, the only ACIDized track type that is not timestretched by ACID.)
