Well, I don't know about the tc powercore, ( I don't have one to test), but I do have (2) UAD-1 cards and the overall performance, in ACID Pro 5, is better than what I was getting in ACID Pro 4. Stability has been rock solid and with the addition of the Plugin Manager (if you use Sound Forge 6 or 7 you know what I mean), makes adding plugins quick and easy, just drag and drop from the PM to your track & bus effects buttons. Creating and recalling plugin chains is real easy and convenient too. Severe native CPU munching has been greatly reduced also. Whereas, in ACID 4, I ALWAYS got severe native CPU munching once I started to put a load on my DSP (50% or more), when using ACID 5, most times I don't even see it and when I do, it is less severe in ACID 5 than in ACID 4. Although not totally eliminated, I do see clear improvement, on the native CPU munching front, in ACID Pro 5. Needless to say, I won't be going back to ACID 4, there are just too many new features and enhancements in ACID 5, that are indispensible to me now, and the improved UAD-1 performance is icing on the cake. What specific problems, using the UAD-1, were you having in ACID 4?

Regarding the CPU munching: Are you now using the VST versions in ACID5? Or still the DirectX?

Now that ACID 5 is VST compatible, I am naturally using the VST versions :)
Comparing the two versions, VST just performs better in ACID Pro 5. BTW, overall, ACID 5's VST implementation is pretty good and in respect to the UAD-1 plugins, pretty solid.

Oh, BTW, have seen the new EMT Plate 140 UAD-1 reverb announced @ AES:

A beauty to behold! If she sounds half as good as she looks, at $149.00, I'll be taking her home with me. Finally a classic vintage reverb to compliment the UAD-1's vintage compressor/eq's.

hey billy, i have one stupid question...

in regard to using vst vs. dx uad plugs in AP5.

are vst versions using full PDC?

Yes, ACID 5 applies full PDC where needed irrespective of DX or VST.
One unadvertised feature, which I find quite useful, is that the Track, Insert, Bus & Master effects buttons change colors to indicate when PDC is being applied to a given effects chain. Green for no PDC being applied and Yellow for when PDC is active and Red (disabled) when in ReWire mode. Pretty neat feature, IMO. Just so you know, when using the UAD-1 VST plugins, the effects button turns yellow everytime, in ACID Pro 5 :)
I would recommend using the VST versions now in ACID Pro 5, they just perform better. If you don't have your UAD-1 VST plugins in the ACID 5 default VST folder, which it will automatically scan when you first open ACID:

C:\Programs\Vstplugins
which I don't, my PPI's are in the: C:\Programs\Steinberg\Vstplugins\ folder

Just go to your VST Effects tab, under Prefrences and direct your Alternate VST search folder 1 to it. ACID will automatically scan that folder so you can use your UAD-1 VST plugins.

I posted the good news about ACID Pro 5, over at the UAD-1 forum, and a UAD-1 user, BigIdea, replied that he had been thinking about getting ACID Pro 4 for the past six months and is glad he waited, before placing his order for ACID Pro 5 :

"Sounds like Sony's giving the people what they want. Me, anyway"

I suspect ReWire slave & native VST support, not to mention all the other great new features and enhancements are winning new converts already.
You will be ACIDized! :)
