ACID Pro 5 software will be available in November with a suggested retail price of $499.95. Users of previous versions of ACID Pro software can purchase an upgrade to version 5 for $149.95. NOT cheap at all, and since we wait for such a looooooooong time for version 5, upgrade price could be cheaper Not sure to upgrade, this will really depend on the features/imporvements in version 5.... ------------------edit--------------- I've just seen product features. Looks nice indeed. i'll wait for official announcement here and after november 8th to check the upgrade offer. |

Cheaper after a long wait? I don't buy that logic at all. Other software companies may have put out 2, 3, 4, or more new versions in that same time span and charged as much for each. You would have paid them more to get where SONY is today, and SONY is only charging for one upgrade. They do have to eat too, you know. |

If you put half of the AP5 feature set into a 4.5 release then the result would just have been more people abandonning the platform, not clamouring to buy. Part of this price is obviously paying for the dinky little NI synths. I dunno about this one. I'll just wait to see what the early adopters say about stability.... |

Chienworks , I did use the wrong words. In fact, the case was I posted my 1st comments before seeing the new features of AP5. I agree the addition of NI product is interesteing, even if I'm not a midi user. Nevertheless, previous updagrde prices for AP4 were $99. I thought they followed this idea. |
