I have Acid pro 4.0. I am trying to make it see my synthesizer. However, when I click on preferences, then the MIDI tab, nothing shows up in the bottom box as far as instruments are concerned. When I right click in the bottom box, I get a prompt advising me that "an exception error has occured and the program shuts down. Somebody please help me. If it can't see my synthesizer, then how will it be able to see a drum machine or microphone. HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Do you have a midi interface? (gotta ask) If so, make sure your drivers are installed properly.

Your microphone is audio only (unless I missed the midi microphone announcement) so you should be looking at Windows mixer or your soundcard's mixer to record to (see) Acid.

Hi ssg,

A few questions:

This is a hardware synth? How is everything connected?

What's your audio interface or soundcard?

Be sure you have the latest version of ACID.

I am using the 2x2 midisport. I have a cable coming out of the the midi out port on my Roland synthesizer to the midi in on the midisport. Then the signal is being sent via USB cable to the USB port on the computer. It worked with CAKEWALK. Thanks for responding guys

Sounds like a corrupt driver problem. Download the latest drivers for your Midisport from M-Audio and install them. Make sure the Midisport is NOT plugged in when you install the drivers.

When you plug in the Midisport, make sure you wait until the USB hub recognizes and initializes the device. This can take a few minutes from the time it first says there’s a new device to the time it’s totally initialized.

Then start ACID and go to the MIDI preferences page. You should see 2 inputs and 2 outputs for the Midisport 2x2. Place a check mark next to the ones your keyboard is plugged into. Don’t forget to enable Real-time MIDI (Alt+F7). And as Iacobus said, make sure you have the latest version of ACID 4.0f.
