Subject:EQ Settings Transfered?

I had a virus infect my computer a few weeks ago. Not being able to lose the virus, I replaced my old harddrive. I backed up all of my acid projects and sounds. I then installed Acid on my new harddrive. Now when I open up any of my projects I get a warning telling me that all of my EQ's have been restored to default settings. Is there any way to get those settings back?

Unless you picked up the Preset Manager, probably not. Sorry.

Odd that the project itself didn't retain the EQ settings though.

The plug-in settings in ACID projects are contained in the ACID project.

Your problem is probably that you are using an older version of the EQ than the one that had written its data into the ACID project, and the older version does not know what to do with the newer versions data.

Assuming this EQ is a Sony plug-in that ships with ACID, installing the most recent ACID update (or at least the most recent one you had previously been using) should fix it.

Of course, the plug-ins are shared between apps, so if you installed Vegas 5 (full or demo, for instance) you will need to reinstall that to get the Sony plug-ins you had been using in your projects.

If you are having troubles with 3rd party plug-ins, most likely the same deal, you need to reinstall the version of the plug-ins you had been using.

It is also worth noting that if you ever need to do a complete wipe on your system and you care about your collection of plug-in presets and packaged chains, you should use the Preset Manager application to back these up on removable media and restore them later.

The Preset Manager is available here .
