ok new question. if the only soundcard showing is microsoft sound mapper, how do i get my m-audio mobile pre to be the default soundcard on acid music studio. i understand its a new product but it has to be the same as acid music i would think.

also i am getting popping when i record. i tried to adjust the buffer and that didnt work. any suggestions please?

If the MobilePre's drivers are installed properly, try going to the Audio tab under Options>Preferences on the menu bar. See if you can choose a driver model there other than Microsoft Sound Mapper.

You probably need to increase the latency settings on your sound card. Open up your sound card's control panel and increase the latency setting. Open up Acid and it should automatically recognise the new setting - try to play your project and if you still get clicks and pops, raise your latency again. If that doesn't fix it, you should have a look at whether there are any other programs running that might be using CPU... shut 'em down.

Latency for USB sound cards is usually not good - you might end up with a setting around 20ms.
