Subject:ARGH! Audiophile 2496 setup

Ok, so I am trying to solve the latency problem and I went out and bought an M-AUDIO audiophile card 2496 and now I have a new host of problems.

I have set it up successfully, but when I try to record in ACID I can see it register on the monitor but it won't playback. I can't hear it either while I am playing/recording from my keyborad via midi. I can render it and hear it play as an mp3, but can't hear it on the track! I have looked in CP in Audio/Sound devices and have it set as M-Audio record and playback default.

What now?

This is so frustrating. I just want to record my piano !

I should add that I can hear mp3s and listen to windows media player fine, but I cannot hear playback or anything in Cubase or Acid. Do I have something set wrong in the M-Audio mixer or in Cpanel Audio/Sound?
