Subject:How to change Tempo on ONE track

I want to change tempo on my midi track, but it keeps changing all tracks - how do I do it?

I have a WAV file that I don't want to sound like a chipmunk.

Thanks!

Try the reverse. Change the tempo of the WAV file by accessing the WAV track's properties. Click the Stretch tab and under the "number of beats" field, halve the beats to double the tempo. Double the beats to halve the tempo.

(Perfect and elegant it isn't, but it works and may help in your situation.)

Yikes! You know, I tried deleting the WAV file, then changing the tempo, then re-inserting the WAV, but it changes the WAV anyway. Most annoying. There's got to be an easier solution than stretching....

Cubase maybe.

Mmm. Almost sounds like the WAV file itself isn't ACIDized properly?

Do you have Sound Forge or any other app that can tell you how long the WAV file is in time? And how many beats do you perceive the sample to be? (A four beat sample that's exactly two seconds long would have an ACIDized tempo of 120 BPM, for example.)

If you're not concerned with looping and stretching to other tempos, access the WAV track's properties and under the General tab, change the track type to "One-shot." Note that ACID will not timestretch the sample and will treat the sample like a multitracking app would; what you hear is what you'll get.

It might not even fit into your project's present tempo as a result. (This is probably why it's important to find out exactly what tempo the sample would fit into best per my suggestion above.)
