hi. i was wondering if someone could help me. i'm using acid 4 and reason. which work perfectly together. now, i'd like to add gigastudio in there. how can i do this? i am asking because once i tried to use reason with hammond b4 and got the b4 was unresponsive. so i went to the settings in acid and setup the midi to accomodate the b4. and when i did that, reason said that the midi device was already in use. and when i set it up to accomodate reason the b4 was unresponsive. how can i fix this? it would be desired to be able to swtich between the two without having to reboot the apps each time. please inform. thanks, luma

You need to get a MIDI device that is capable of sharing its MIDI ports with multiple applications.

Contrary to its meaning the word Soundblaster seems to silence people around here. Rather like you're wearing an anorak at a fashion party. I don't know the exact answer to your question LumaClark, but if you're happy with the Soundblaster I think you can get around your problem by using two of them at the same time.
It is very early in the US yet. Let's hope someone will provide a better answer during the day.

You don't need a new soundcard, but a MIDI device that will permit you to have two (or more) apps connected to the MIDI ports at the same time.

The problem you are having is that two different apps are trying to use the same MIDI device at the same time. Some hardware/drivers don't support this.

You can add a USB MIDI device to give you more MIDI ports. You need to check with the vendor to make sure that the MIDI ports are "multiclient".

The SB16 MIDI ports are NOT multiclient.
