Does anyone run Acid Pro 4.0 with Virtual PC on there Macintoch? I just got a G5 Mac not realizing that there wasn't a version of Acid for Mac. Now I'm faced with running it through Virtual PC on my Mac. I have been told that It will work but it will run slow and I'm not sure about the sound quality. Does anybody know first hand? I like my Acid and I don't want to switch to a different software, but if I did, is there a software that is similar to acid?that will work on a mac.

Help!

Matt

The closest thing I can think of is GarageBand from Apple. (I've heard it was a couple steps behind the present incarnation of ACID though.)

You can probably pick up a cheap Windows PC for not a whole lot more than the cost of VirtualPC.

I haven't run Acid on a Mac with Virtual PC, but I have run Sound Forge. The limitation then was that you could only use the inputs/outputs that where assigned in the MAC OS Sound applet. So you where limited to 2in/2out. Not sure if that's true today, that was a few years back.

That’s the only bad thing bad about a Mac; you severely limit your software choices. I haven’t been following Apple developments since I stopped using my Apple ][+ 1984 but I thought Mac OSX was built on a Unix kernel. I’ve been running a dual boot Windows/Linux machine since 1995. Wouldn’t it be great if they just offer Mac OSX on a Linux kernel so you could dual boot it on your PC? I guess then they wouldn’t need their overly expensive hardware so we’ll never see that option.

Personally, I rather see Sony port ACID to Linux. ;-)

i actually ran acid 2.0 in virtual PC years ago on g3 imac. it worked but my cpu was so underpowered for using a emulated OS that you couldn't run any plug-ins.

with all the OS X audio apps that are out now it's really not worth the trouble.

just get soundtrack or the new version of logic if you want to stay with apple.

or

just get a cheap pc and a KVM switch. you can get a P4 tower for around $300 bucks if you know where to look.
