Subject:Adding tracks to project - painting

I feel like I'm definitely doing things the hard way here with adding tracks to a current project.

Once I have the tracks in the upper left corner of the project, I attempt to add each of the tracks (painting) to the mix.....and I'm finding that I have to paint each of the tracks. Is there an option that I'm just not doing that will allow the track to be added into the project window without me having to paint, click and drag, each of the files onto the project?

Thanks....

You seem to be missing the point of the ACID paradigm. First of all, you are working with loops and not whole tracks. You CREATE tracks by painting out and chopping up the loops in creative ways along the timeliine. Each loop has it's own distinct track. If you add an already pre-recorded track to the timeline, then yes, that whole track, in it's enitirety will be displayed. ACID loops though are typically 2-4 measures long with some as long as 16 or 32 measures. It's up to you to place the loops along the timeline. When you add a loop to project (say a 2 measue tambourine loop), you may not want to add it until the "B" or Chorus section, 16 measures into the song. The majority of your loops will not start at measure 1. You want to build your song up, create tension and release, some parts sparse, some parts busy. I may not use a particular loop until the very end of a song.

If you want the whole track to be painted, take the Paint Tool (not the pencil) and hold the Ctrl down key when you left-click on the timeline. This will paint the entire file with one stroke. It’s handy for those times when you are adding an entire track.

Thank you guys for the replies.

Yes Billy, your point is well taken. I'm still a rookie and wasn't sure on the full workings of each of the programs I'm utilizing. Guess I kinda jumped the gun if you will with my purchases.....but learning is occurring atleast....

Thanks again guys.
