Plz put aside your bias for Acid Pro and give me a real honest answer about which program is an ooverall better program.. and you want to know what i mean by better, basically which one has the better: Sound Quality Ease Of Use Better Features and etc. Plz, because i have both, and honestly, people keep tellin me that Cool edit/Audition is better, but i haven't figured out why yet.. Acid seems really easy, and i can adjust my vocals, inwhich in Adobe Audition/cool edit, i haven't figured out how to yet, can someone fill me in on what they think, would be appreciated, thanx... |

I've used/use ACID since day one and still use it...I prefer ACID...BUT... I think the sound of the CEPro/Audition mix buss is kickass!! It sounds creamier to my ears. The workflow of ACID is unchallenged by anything on the market today. I'd download demos for both and check 'em out. Good luck. |

Metrodome, you didn't even have to respond, i know what i asked anmd still want the answer. which one is better for recording, period.. i know that Acid is loop based, and that edit pro is better for editing, but all i want to do is record music, load beats and do vocals, and i wanted to know which could i make better songs from, better music.. I don't need to do homework, i was ready to ask this question.. and also, i have both, not the demo's, i have both full programs, but i haven't gotten used to them yet, especially Adobe Audition, so i can't compare, i wanted the opinion of someone who knows for sure... |

No one is going to be able to answer this question for you. Everybody works (and thinks) differently. I'd say explore both and find their strengths and weaknesses. I believe keybord mag did a review of audition recently. Check that out. Audition has a lot going for it. Can audition record more than one track at a time? Is that what your looking for? Also, try an audition forum. You can get a lot there. Both of these programs are pro quality programs that are generally ignored by the " what is the newest, hottest, most feature laden" new version. I'd say use both and exploit their strengths. |

Of course I didn't have to respond... You're asking for an opinion and then you ask people not to be biased. Here's my answer again with a little more explanation since it seems you perceive my response as a non answer. These programs focus on different things. So the correct answer is do your homework. Try recording with both. In the end thats all that matters. Sheesh people are using Fruity loops these days for Pro recording who would have seen that coming. |

Yeah, I've used both...ACID more, of course...but both for recording and loop arranging...I don't care for the BIG OLE record window that pops up in ACID but other than that, in terms of recording complexity, they are about the same...Audition is more like the traditional DAWs where you arm, hit record and off you go. That's as much as I know. HTH |

I mean, by asking a question in the forum where it belongs, that is a form of investigative homework, IMO...I'd do the same. If someone with experience could answer a question and save me a little time then what's the harm in that? Just my .02...I'll butt out now. |

But i see what you guys are sayin, it's just hard for me to get used to Audition, it seems more difficult, but i can tell that it's a good program.. i'll dive into it more tho, thanx. |

I use both for doing DJ mixes although all I use the CE for is for adding scratches to my finished mixes which I do in ACID. CE is more of a multitrack and editing program whereas ACID is more of a production program. Like someone said before it really is like apples to oranges. CE is great program, but ACID is by far more user friendly and the interface much more attractive. ACID's Beatmapper is a big timesaver and is fairly accurate. I load the tracks in and they are beatmatched pretty nicely and require minimal cutting and splicing to line the blends up. |

"it's just hard for me to get used to Audition" trust me you're not the only one who has problems with this program. Yes, it is a good program and has some good features. There's currently only 1 feature that I use in Cool Edit/Audition, and the only reason I still keep it installed, and that is it allows me to copy to clipboard of the Statistics information, which I use when analyzing audio and writing follow up reports. I can get this same type of information in Sound Forge, but no copy to clipboard of the information, thus it becomes a huge time savor in audition for me over Sound Forge. I use Vegas for my multitrack needs, and if you like Acid, then you'll love Vegas, it's the same interface as Acid, only with the multitrack capabilities. |

Why dont you download the demos and try them out? Acid and Audition really arent the same type of program ? It would have been better for you to compare ACID to Reason, or ACID to FLSTUDIO 4.5.2. You cant even compare it to Cubase or Sonar, since those tools offer a lot more than just looping, automation and effects. Umm.. Audition could be compared to Vegas, but even then that is still not so correct, because Vegas minces it with Video features further with SF7 it is a great pair. In summary try... (01) the demos (02) download the sample files, study them (03) download the manuals (04) Ask your questions (05) Check how hardware can be used (06) Shop around and make a purchase That is really the only way. |

"but all i want to do is record music, load beats and do vocals" Hmmmm....that's all? I mean that's a pretty vague description. Both programs will do all of these tasks. I mean you have to really get into more details of what you want to do. For example, "record music". Ok, I've been recording music for years, but there's many different ways to record music. You want to record a live band with multiple musicians? You want to use a sequencer and record midi of your performances individually and then later convert this to audio so you can mix? You want to play one instrument at a time and record and playback with previously recorded tracks? You want to record Virtual instruments (VSTi's) or do you want to do a combination of all those things? These are all different ways to "record music" and each app is better in one area than the other. You need to get to the specifics of exactly what you want to do before anyone can give you answer that is helpful. You need to do some research and possibly take some recording classes so you can better focus your questions with some specifics and then we might be able to help you out better. So if you want an honest answer of which program is better to "record music"? The answer is neither, they're both capable of recording music. |

does audition's lack of asio present any latency issues when recording? |
