Using nero ?

I have given up on getting any DVD burner to work with DVDA. But I have seen some comments here about using Nero to do tha actual burn, after using DVDA for authoring.

Since Nero SEEMS to accept my burner (the DVD test passed okay), can someone give me a couple of clues or point me to a tutorial as to what I need to do with DVDA to get it to feed files to Nero for final burning?

Actually, it's pretty easy. This is how I do it (using Nero 5.5.10.56):

1. Create a new project in Nero, using the "DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)" type.
2. Drag the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders that DVDA created into the project.
3. Give the disc a title, unless you *really* like calling it "NEW". <grin>
4. Burn, baby, burn!

Note that I use "DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)" because of all the problems people have reported in the past using the "DVD-Video" type. Fortunately, Nero senses that a DVD-Video is being written when using UDI/IFO, and will do all of the necessary ordering and shuffling and whatnot to make it come out right.

One more note: in the Properties for the Nero project, under the UDF tab, you should set the file system version to "UDF 1.02." This version appears to be the one that's most compatible with DVD players.

Anyway, this is what I do, and it's been working like a charm for me. Slight modifications may be needed if you're using Nero 6 (which I'm not; why change what's working?). Good luck!

There is a very simple and useful GUI front-end for Nero that make burning DVD video a breeze. It's called "ImgTool Burn" and it's available here for FREE:

ImgTool Burn at Coujo.de

Thanks MJ. I successfully made a DVD with version 6, so I am off and running. :) The interfaqce is a bit different than you described, and it took me an hour to figure out how to create and recall a project, but once I did, everything went like abreeze. Oddly enough, I had better luck at 8x than at 4x, where the burn died at 86%.

Thanks again. :)

Thanks, John I will take a look at it.

You might've gotten sucked into Nero's "Wizard." Without the Wizard, it's exactly as MJ described. Or maybe you were using NeroVision Express instead of Nero Burning-ROM?

Actually, from what I've been told, Nero 6's interface has undergone a few "improvements" from Nero 5.5. It's like what you're looking for is still there, but some of it's been moved around, y'know? That's why I'm not giving up 5.5 unless I absolutely have to, especially since John_Cline tuned me in to ImgTool Burn (thanks!), which has made DVD burning even easier.
