Hi all There's something driving me up the freakin' wall that I hope someone could help me with. I'm using Garritan Personal Orchestra as a virtual instrument in Acid Pro 4. It sounds great and records just fine. I record piano parts live straight into Acid as midi files and (me being an averge to poor pianist) I then edit/quantise etc to bring the track up to scratch. Can someone tell me how I save the edits I make within the midi window in Acid? How do I then make sure Acid plays back the newly edited version of the file in the track playback? I'm finding that sometimes the editing I do in the midi window transfers automatically into the arrangement window, but sometimes it doesn't (especially when I edit the expression/damper pedal within the list editor). There are a couple of buttons in the midi section e.g. remove, replace & a save icon. Can someone tell me if I'm missing something. Do I need to save before changes are made in the arrangement window? Does saving overwrite the exisitng midi file in windows? What do 'remove' & 'replace' do? Sorry to be a midi dunce.... Thanks - I feel better just having got it off my chest.... LD |

> Can someone tell me how I save the edits I make within the midi window in Acid? You should use the Save icon to save any changes you make in the editor. That will save them back out to the MIDI file. Otherwise they only get saved in the project but if you use that MIDI file in another project (or even on another track) the changes won’t be there. The Reload button is kind of a master undo all. If you mess up, it reloads the MIDI file wiping out all your changes since the last save. The Replace button is to swap one MIDI file for another. ~jr |

Thanks JR - I've got a section of my midi piano part that I edited to get rid of the damper pedal cos it was sounding stunted - when I play it back in the midi window it sounds fine, but when I play the whole track back in the arrangement window the damper pedal is still in there & the track still sounds stunted. This happens even after I save it. Is there a glitch in Acid with damper pedal edits? If I insert a note or delete a note this feeds straight through to the arrangement window just fine. All seems a bit odd to me. Thanks LD |

Go into the MIDI List Editor and look for events with a message name of "Damper Pedal" and delete them. Then press the Save icon to save this back to the MIDI file. That should get rid of them. When you remove the damper pedal from the Piano Roll Editor they don’t really get deleted. They just get their control data set to zero. Perhaps this is messing things up some how. With the List Editor set to All Tracks view, you can delete anything you want. ~jr |
