Saving preferences between installs

Is there a way to save the configuration in a file. I recently upgraded my system and reinstalled the operating system and VV5. It would of been great to have the ability to simply load my previous configuration options that I used in the past. Given the power of VV5 this is probalby available and I am not aware of it.

If you mean exporting any sort of custom effects settings - effects chains, custom audio and video pre-sets and the like - yes there is. You can manually search for through the 'current user' registry and export the sections that relate to those presets. Also you would need to save any of the presets found in the various folders - some in the user folder, some in the Vegas folder and some in the shared folders for example.

You can do a search for this, I know it has been discussed at various points. I posted a bit more detailed "how to" at one point - search for things like "moving pre-sets" and "Custom pre-sets" and "exporting reg" and you should find a few things.

Thanks for your reply, what you explained will be helpful someday but this is not what I am looking for with this post.

I am refering to the user preference settings in the many tabs under the option window.
