My computer is only about 4 months old: an Intel P4 2.8Ghz, 512 Ram. There is a lot of noise emitting from it. I am using SF 7 and when I am in record mode, there is a buzzing sound that leaves a high pitched buzz or hum in the recorded audio file.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am stumped. Thank you.

Things to check:
- Make sure you are using shielded cables.
- Is there another piece of equipment in close proximity to the sound card, like a guitar amp?
- cables, ect on top of monitor.

Where is the source audio coming from?

Turn off or Mute ALL recording inputs to your sound card EXCEPT the one you are using. A lot of noise can originate with open analog line-in, microphone, and cd-audio inputs.

make sure that you don't have the mic boost on, that would definitely cause issues

Disconnect your cable modem and see if that helps. You might have a ground loop.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have checked the recording settings and they are ok. I have not checked the cables to insure that they are shielded. This must sound stupid but which cables are you taling about rraud?

Also, when not in record mode, there is a lot ot buzzing and whenever I move my mouse there is noise. There is a loud click when I point and click the mouse also. Hello...maybe I should try another mouse and see if this is the problem.

which cables are you talking about rraud?

The in/out cables to and from the soundcard must be shielded.... opposed to non-shielded, which is speaker cable and usually looks similar to a lamp cord.
