Are you still using a Creative soundcard? Do you have the latest drivers? Does this happen when you load a MIDI file that you recorded in ACID or does it only happen with other MIDI files? ACID Pro is very stable for me and I have the Creative Audigy 2 card but the drivers are the worst and every so often I get an error about not being able to load the ASIO driver and I have to re-assign it again. This is caused by the Creative drivers not by ACID. I’ve never had any MIDI problems but I record all my own MIDI files in ACID. When you open a MIDI file, ACID automatically loads a DLS Soft Synth for it if there is no VSTi’s loaded. Can you load the DLS Soft Synth on its own and use it? How about if you load a VSTi before you bring in the MIDI file. Do you get an error then? I can’t imagine why a MIDI file would give you an error. It’s not an audio stream, its just data. ~jr |

Have you tried the WDM drivers? I used to have a C-port (a not so great device, that tried to do more than it was capable of) and the ASIO support was always lacking, but WDM drivers were always very stable. And since I was only using pre rendered way's, and MIDI created within ACID latency was never really an issue. I did however experience errors loading midi files while using ASIO drivers. Other issues that used to plague me were the fact that I hadn't removed my NIC, and I also had not disabled unnecessary services. Tascam has a great FAQ on how to streamline your system into a pseudo workstation, so long as you are willing to do some testing for a day or so. |
