Subject:Acid Music 3.0g and video scoring help

Can anyone tell me why when I open an .avi video file (I only work with .avi files), it adds and draws it in automatically into the video track at the top of the timeline with picture frames intermixed with black frames. Then when I bring in the video window, the screen is black, I hit play, the screen stays black, and then all the frames on the timeline go black. Why can't I preview a clip? All I want to do is score a video. My version does not have a video tab in the 'Preferences Dialog Box' , should there be one? Thank you. Oscar

What you’re experiencing sounds like either you don’t have the correct codec installed on your system for the AVI file you’re using or that ACID can’t find/use the right codec. What was the source of the AVI file? Is it DivX by any chance?

Odd. Were these AVI files encoded correctly like JohnnyRoy mentioned?

Is it all AVI files you've tried? What about other video file formats? Do those show up OK?

It could be video driver related too. Try updating your video card's drivers if any are available.
