After installing SF 7b, it does not recognize wav files, and in fact brings up an error message saying it is an unsupported file type!! Not possible!!! Anyone know why it is doing this and what I can do to fix it??!!! Vegas 4 and Acid 4 have no problem. TIA |

Try this: 1. Close Sound Forge. 2. Delete C::\Program Files\Sony\Shared Plug Ins 3. Reinstall Sound Forge. Does that fix it? Ted |

If I delete that folder, will it mess up my other Sony progs, specifically Acid, Vegas and DVD Architect? |

Try doing this Delete C::\Program Files\Sony\Shared Plug Ins\wavplug This will only delete the Wave file plugin and when you reinstall Sound Forge it will put it back. I think maybe Ted is pointing you in the direction that the wave file I/O might have gotten corrupt or there's a bad registry link telling Sound Forge where this file is located. So deleting this and reinstalling will take care of both problems. If you delete just the wave folder plugin and then reinstall Sound Forge and have sound Forge install the shared plugins back to the same folder you deleted it from, then for sure won't have any problems with Acid, etc. |

Actually Sound Forge 7 has its own WAV plug-in (not shared). Try deleting everything in the "C:\Program Files\Sony\Sound Forge 7.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\wavplug" folder (for a default installation) and reinstalling. And no, deleting that file won't mess up ACID 4 or Vegas 4 or 5 since those applications should have their own WAV plug-in too. Also the shared WAV plug-in for our earlier legacy applications will never be seen by newer Sony apps (Vegas 5, DVDA 2, Sound Forge 7). You can confirm whether you have the WAV plug-in by using File | Open, WAV should be in the format dropdown list. It should also appear as a render format. |
