Sounds great, now if you can just get past that learning curve of Cubase, so you can use those tools effeciently I'ld jump right on it.

Have used Cubase and its so not so difficult.... Let see what Acid 5 has in store? - maybe Sony have just dumped it in a skip now and gone home, locking the door....... :-)

i have been a acid user since 2.0.
i love how acid manipulates audio
but this could make me jump ship.

sonar 3.0 was really nice but it still had some of the problems i had with acid.
cubase sx has features that i hoped woul make it into acid.

cubase sx pros
1 vst effects, uad, and tc powercore works excellent with sx and nuendo.

2 vsti, since they inveted it vstis are less likely to crash the host.

3 networking, cubase can use network with other computer an use there resources.

4 freeze tracks, conserve power

5 mapped with mackie control and others for hardware support

6 better midi ,midi pluggins in sx are hot

new features sx3
acid loop support, this is the only reason id consider switching

a new song structure which is something like regions.looks very cool.

what i need in acid 5.0 is

1 better (consistant) midi
2 vst effects
3 stability

Yes, SX3 is being released next week. This new release appears to change everything! Get the details directly from Steinberg (it's all over their site):

http://www.steinbergusa.net/

I read something about crossgrade pricing on the product. I don't know if Acid is included in the crossgrade list. I'm upgrading from SX1 for only $149 - the same price Sony charges for an upgrade?

I hope that Sony is monitoring these competitive product threads closely. What gets me is that Steinberg releases TWO major upgrades (v2 AND v3) within the same timeframe that we've had Acid 4. What's more, SX3 is not even released yet, and I was able to download the documentation (1000+ pages). How cool is that?

Wake up, Sony!!!
