print to tape

I am trying to do my first print to tape. I have tried doing so through Vegas and also through Video Capture. When I have my camera in record mode I can select cue device but not preview or record. If I have the camera in playback mode then preview and record are enabled. I cannot get the video recorded to my camera.
In Vegas under Preferences / Video Device - I have OHCI Compliant enabled (it is a Sony DCR-TRV 11 camera). And NSTC DV is chosen in the conform to output box.

I have tried this in manual mode (for some reason it won't allow device control in print to tape but allows it for capture...???)

Please help! I gotta get this out by Wednesday.

Make sure the camera is in VCR mode. Some cams need to have a digital input enabled in the camera menu.
Device control should be enabled in PTT mode, as you've seen, but you may have it shut off from previous sessions.
What happens when you play from the Vegas timeline? Does the camera shut down, and therefore stop the capture?
If you have to do a manual print, can you start the camera manually?
Are you sure the camera will allow you to print from a digital source? Not all cams do.
Is the cam by chance seeing garbage information that makes it think it's seeing copyright protection?

I tried using Video Capture again w/ no luck. It just would not let me record to device. AAAAHHHH!

I tried PTT using vegas again and got the option to use device enable (it didn't give me the option last time).

I made sure that the A/D pass through was turned off.

For a 3:38 video, I am only about 1/4 of the way through and it has taken vegas over 5 minutes. I saw the test pattern come up at the beginning but when the video ran all I got was blue screen on my camera. Ulitmately it didn't work. I tired to do it manually and again I see the test pattern. There was a little blip like garbage an then blue screen.

Is this what you are talking about, the camera seeing it as copy protected video? What can I do to fix this?
