I am kinda a newbee with sound forge. I have used pro tools for sometime, so I do know a lil bout recording. I have tried to increase the volume and did successful, but I had to trim down peaks and all, so there were no clips But I still don't have the same volume as a regualar mastered CD. IS there a way to increase the meters to get a higher sound. I have not tried normalize yet, and I have read about it, but I still think I will be in the same boat. Is there a mastering guide with sound forge that I could get? I am using Sound Forge 5.0 thank in advance Shawn |

Start with trying Normalization, and use RMS normalization, use the "speech" preset. Lower the fader level on the left to decrease levels, raise the fader to increase. Also, try the wavehammer plugin. Both of these will raise your levels, but are not an ideal one step solution for mastering, but will get you close to what you want. Just reread you message, the wavehammer plugin is not included with v5.0. Look into purchasing a multiband compressor plugin. Either Waves, or Isotope Ozone are good choices. |

Thanks for the reply. I have waves pluggin, do you think I should compress first with waves, then normalize? What would you suggest. I do have plenty of puggins, just need to know what will work the best.. Thanks Shawn |
