I am using Acid Pro 3.0 My problem is after I have my project completed in the acid program the sound is very clear and volume loud(master volume is not in the red) but when I render it to a wave file or MP3 and then play that file on my computer the sound is very distorted and the quality loss, does anyone have any solutions????

What's the bit-depth and sample rate? (16-bit/44.1 kHz?)

What are you using to play the file back with?

When rendering your project, ensure your bit rate is set at 16bit and 44.1khz.
I had the same problem and found that this had been altered.

I am using winamp, but the sound is also distorted when I burn my song onto a CD.

Have you tried other media players, like Windows Media Player or RealPlayer?

Do you have an audio editor like Sound Forge? If you do, does the rendered file sound distorted during playback in that app too?

I also tried realplayer, still getting distortion. Could it be computer problems??

Hmm. Not likely. If the project sounds fine before your render it down to either WAV or MP3, it sounds like the problem might be in ACID.

Did this just start happening or has it been happening all along?

What if you tried to render to a format like WMA? Is that distorted too?

I would try uninstalling and then reinstalling ACID Pro. (Be sure to use the latest update and install only that once you uninstall ACID as it can act as the full version. Keep your serial key handy.)

Re-installing ACID may still not work. I encountered a similar problem, where my projects sounded beautiful in ACID but once I rendered them I had all kinds of popping and distortion in the audio. This usually happened when I had used the FX plug-ins within ACID; for whatever reason these would not always render properly. I dealt with it by using an external effects processor and SoundForge to process signals, and only used ACID for EQ and mixing. Haven't had any issues since.

Still, that sounds like a workaround rather than a solution. (Though using an external effects processor is always a plus in my book.)

Other things to try are defragmenting your hard drive and making sure your system isn't doing anything else while rendering.

I've done pretty much everything, I defragmented the hard drive, I didn't use any FX, and I don't think there is any other program running while I'm rendering. Still getting distortion. This has always been a problem ever since I have been using acid. Also tried reinstalling. Can anyone help me???

What's your soundcard and your operating system?

Pinky, clarify - does this happen when you're trying to render a new file or does this happen when you try to burn directly to CD? You need to try both if you haven't already - it would help pinpoint where the problem lies.

I'm not sure of the sound card but my computer is 600Mhz, 128 Ram, 20 Gig harddrive. I'm running windows 98. The problem occurs when I render a new file that I created in acid. For some reason I can't burn directly to a cd in the acid program

If you look in your control panel for Audio/Video/Multimedia it will have the device name for your sound card. But it is not an issue w/ ACID, it's definitely something w/ your system, if you cannot even burn directly to CD.
