I'd like to download some of my projects onto a forum that I am a member of, but the download can only be up to 1mb. As most of my projects are at around 30mb I need a good and simple program that can downsize my tracks. I know that there will be a major reduction in quality, but that can't be helped. Any Ideas? Thanks PK |

Sound Forge. You have 30 MB MP3 projects? Maybe you could give excerpts of highlights rather than the whole project? (Sound Forge has plenty of tools that would help you edit such an effort.) Remember that saving an MP3 over and over compresses the file more and more each time. Be sure to save to a lossless format (like WAV) when making edits before doing a final render. |

Hey MD - not a 30mb MP3 but one of my average projects after rendering tend to be about 30mb wav.files. PK |

What is the format of the original wav? 44.1/16bit? A 30Meg .Wav originally at 44.1/16bit will have a compression ratio of roughly 10:1 when rendering to a 128Kbs .MP3, making it 3Meg. 64Kbs will give you a 21:1 compression ratio puting you at 1.4Meg. So it looks like you'll have to go lower than 64Kbs, before you hit your target. |
