Hi, We recently upgraded from SF 6 to 7. While recording yesterday, no audio could go above -5.0. Regardless of how much gain we increased, the levels clipped/leveled off at around -5.0. Now, when I open previoiusly recorded files, the levels are around -0.6. Now, we normally record in Pro Tools Mac because of our studio and all of us edit the files in Sound Forge. We've upgraded our machine and are working exclusively in Sound Forge and are trying to correct this. I haven't adjusted any preferences so everything is still in the default setting. I'd really appreciate any guidance anyone could provide. Sincerely, David |

I made a screen grab if anyone thinks it will help. I've been stuck on this now for 2 days and am running out of ideas. http://members.cox.net/danderson2/audio/audio.html When I monitor the levels in the MIA console, they appear strong and where they should be. But on the Makie, they are low. Without being an expert in this area, it *seems* the problem is from the board to the sound card but this is only my guess. I do have 2 Makies and have tried both with exactly the same results as well as tried each of the 4 channels. Thanks, David |

So, I solved the problem:-) I was using a single Out from my Mackie to my dual inputs into the sound card. I found another cable that had dual outs from the boaard and dual ins to the sound card. That was the problem:-) I have no idea how I switched the cables but that was the problem. Can anyone tell me what the difference is? Why wouldn't the single out just be converted to the dual ins on my sound card? David |
