I don't think you have to purchase it for ACID if you already have Vegas+DVD.

Are you having trouble or is this something you're considering?

Well, actually i've tried rendering to AC3 a couple times and it asks me for my licence or to purchase one to do that. I've tried puting in the vegas licence in but that doesnt work so i just sort of dropped it. But i've been doing a few ac3 mix things in vegas lately with some Reason created content and i quite like the surround mixing. So figured i'd see if its just something i'm doing wrong or if its not an option.

thank

Try using your DVDA license instead. AC3 is part of DVDA, not part of Vegas.

Ok,

So i tried teh DVDA 2 licence and that didnt work, reinstalled ACID and that didnt work either, but i noticed there is a Shared Plugins directory thats put under the Sonic Foundry directory and one under the sony directory. I removed teh Sonic Foundry one and that seemed to break acid in little ways (like the AC3 wasnt even an option at this point now). So, there seems to be two shared directories - one for vegas/dvda/soundforge and a separate one for acid. Would this have something to do with it?

sghoughton,

Please contact tech support for an activation for AC-3 for ACID. Because of the switch from Sonic Foundry (ACID) to Sony (DVD2), the AC-3 license is not being recognized automatically.

Customer support will get you all set up and ready to go.

Thanks,

I figured it would have something to do with that but thought there might be some workaroundish type of thing.
